See how whales are keeping the ocean clean as well as air!

You’ve heard about whales, their gigantic size, and other bizarre facts. But have you ever wondered how whales are keeping the ocean clean for a long long time, anonymously?

plus, we'll talk about how they are reducing the air pollution while remaining in the water, you'd be surprised to know!

So, what are you waiting for? Let's get started.

THEY CLEAN OCEAN BY EATING TINY ORGANISMS

Yes, they eat microorganisms, the inhabitants of the oceans, which we call zooplankton. We can’t see them with naked eyes.

Not only the zooplanktons. They also feed on krills, and other small animals. Thus, maintain their population and not allow their species to overpopulate.

WHAT IF THEY DON’T FEED ON ZOOPLANKTONS.

If they wouldn’t feed on these tiny organisms as well as krills, their species would become over-populated, and the oceans would become dirty.

And if you see the ocean from above, then, you’ll see quite a different shape.

WHAT IF WHALES WOULD VANISH FROM THE OCEANS

They act as cleaner living in the oceans, If they would vanish from the oceans, this would happen.

Actually, there is a chain connected to all the creatures living in the ocean. Krills eat phytoplankton , which absorb 40 percent of carbon from  the atmosphere, and whales eat krills.

If whales would dissappear from the ocean, the krills would eat-up all the plankton, and thus the 40 percent of carbon dioxide will increase in the air.

And what would happen next, you better know!

WHALES HELP US REDUCE CARBON

Yes, you’d be surprised to know, but whales are helping us to reduce carbon dioxide, which is, as you know, harmful to our atmosphere.

Actually, every animal has carbon in its body, but it is released into the air after they die, but this doesn’t apply to whales.

Most of the whales sink to the bottom and thus keep the carbon dioxide beneath the ocean. Stopping and holding it to release in the air

Each whale contains tons and tons of carbon stored in their bodies.

If we compare it to the tree, a whale holds thousand and thousand times more carbon than trees to spoil the air!

It sounds crazy, but they are playing a vital role in protecting our climate, in a way we don’t even know.

THEIR POOP FEEDS PHYTOPLANKTON

Another way in which whales are the need of nature is that their poop, begin to float on the top of the ocean.

And phytoplankton, as I said, consume carbons, have nutrients in their wastes. They feed on it and thus the food is provided to phytoplankton from the whales.

If we try observe, whales are acting as the caretakers and guardians of phytoplankton, indirectly. And for us and our climate, there is a great benefit

SOME GOOD WHALES

The biggest examples of some good sweepers are blue whales, which are the ultimate eating machines and can consume 16 tons of krills daily! (Imagine how much time they would take to digest!)

Other whales like baleen and right whales are also playing their part in protecting the climate. They have comb-like mouths, which help them filter their food.

You can see a whales' hairy mouth

They open their gigantic mouths close to the prey, and without looking at them, pass through their swarm, and thus swallow tons of tiny krills at a stroke.

WE HAVE TO SAVE THEM

Yes, buddies, sadly, over hunting whales for acquiring oil has led them to the risk of extinction.

The biggest contributor to the ocean, the blue whale, is endangered, the krill eater. The right whale is now critically endangered. And finally, the population of north atlantic whales has been restricted to 350.

6 out of 13 whale species are listed as endangered. These all whales are vital to maintaining our climate. Scientists say that if you have to save the climate, save the whales.

CONCLUSION!

Whales, especially blue whales, are my favorite marine animal. I am very sad to see it at this stage, but on the other side; happy to observe the contribution of different organizations to save it from extinction.

According to Iucn, its population is growing from time to time and I hope that we will save it.

So, buddies, obviously, you are a passionate reader if you’ve reached this line. If you liked the article tell me in the comment, and post it on your Facebook story to spread awareness around people.
